About Tutela Communities
A good home requires ongoing care, attention, and respect for the people living in it.
Tutela Communities provides safe, structured housing for people who need a stable place to focus on their next steps — with structure and community around them.

Our Story
How Tutela came to be.
Tutela Communities grew from hands-on experience helping manage a family-owned rental property, an interest in real estate, and a desire to build something that serves people well.
That experience offered an early understanding of both the responsibilities and the challenges of providing housing — and helped shape our belief that a good home requires ongoing care, attention, and respect for the people living there.
We created Tutela to bring that perspective to sober living and supportive housing. Our priorities are straightforward: well-maintained homes, clear expectations, and an environment where residents feel respected.
We're committed to putting those priorities into practice through the way we care for our homes, respond to concerns, and show up for the people who call them home.
Our Mission
We provide safe, structured, dignity-centered housing that helps residents stabilize, rebuild, and move toward long-term independence — fostering a space of healing and growth where accountability and respect go hand in hand.
Our Vision
To become the most trusted provider of structured housing across the Greater San Francisco Bay Area — and, as we grow, into the San Joaquin Valley and the Sacramento region. A place where anyone rebuilding their life can find stability and be treated with respect.
Our Core Values
What we hold ourselves to.
These values aren't decoration. They decide how we run our homes, how we treat residents, and how we work with families and agencies.
Safety & security
A secure environment free from the distractions and dangers of instability — the baseline everything else is built on.
Accountability
Clear expectations and consistent rules that foster personal responsibility and set residents up to succeed.
Dignity & respect
Every resident is treated as an individual worthy of respect, regardless of where their story began.
Community
Strong peer support networks that provide emotional stability and shared momentum through hard seasons.
Structure
A predictable daily routine that gives residents the steadiness they need to move forward.
Second chances
A safe place to rebuild, recover, and move forward — without being permanently defined by the past.
Why We Exist
Because the gap between treatment and stability is where people fall through.
Someone leaves a program, a facility, or a difficult chapter with real momentum — and then needs a place to live that won't undo it. Too often, that's exactly where the progress stops. Not for lack of willingness, but for lack of a safe, structured place to land.
Tutela Communities exists to be that place. We're not a treatment provider and we don't pretend to be. What we offer is housing: clean, sober, well-run homes where the expectations are clear and the support is consistent — so the work someone has already done has somewhere to grow.
We show up consistently
Not just at move-in. Residents can count on us to respond, follow through, and stay engaged for the whole time they're with us.
We keep listening and improving
We learn from residents, families, and referral partners — and we change how we operate when we find something that isn't working.
We treat housing as a responsibility
Well-maintained homes, honest communication, and respectful boundaries. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
Ready to take the next step?
Whether you're applying for yourself, referring a client, or asking on behalf of someone you love — we'd like to hear from you.
Our Role
Your next steps, with structure and community around them.
We recognize that each resident arrives with their own experiences, challenges, and goals. Our role is to provide a safe, stable place where they can focus on what comes next.
As we build Tutela, we're committed to listening, learning, and improving the housing we provide. Through it all, our purpose remains simple: to care for our homes and the people who live in them, so residents have a steady foundation to build on.
